Assessing and recording - Teacher observation and recording

Teachers will find the Learning Objectives useful as a point of reference in mapping progression. Lessons can be planned to provide a rich range of experience and interaction with the new language to promote progress but also to allow ample opportunities for assessment for learning and informal teacher assessment. Progress in all strands can be recorded using a portfolio approach and more formal accreditation is available through the National Recognition Scheme.

Asset reading B

This class is preparing for the Asset Languages reading assessments at Grade 3. As a preparation for reading Grade 3, they have practised creating and reading out sentences. They have also listened to a short text read to them by a classmate and then answered questions in English on it and tried a Grade 2 reading test. Here children try a Grade 3 reading test and highlight the key words, working with a partner.
