Leaders - Transition
The key to the successful implementation of the language learning entitlement in primary schools is transition. It will be essential for primary and secondary school leaders to work together to plan a cohesive programme of transition that takes account of prior learning. Here head teachers and advisers discuss the importance of transition and the issues that we face.
Transition
By 2010, all children in Key Stage 2 will be entitled to learn a foreign language. Some schools are already offering a language from Year 3 to Year 6 and are consequently having to think about how their pupils are building on their experience of language learning in the secondary school.
