Leaders - Resourcing
The question of who teaches primary languages has a variety of answers. The Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages is designed to support primary class teachers in taking control of the programme of learning for their classes. There are different solutions to providing high quality learning for children. Here teachers and head teachers discuss a number of models of provision to suit different circumstances.
Resourcing
The choice of which model to use for introducing a language into the primary curriculum depends on the circumstances of the school, of course, as well as on external factors, such as training and support. The main models are: a completely cross-curricular approach, lessons taught by a visiting teacher, support from language colleges and other secondary schools, a mixture of outside and in-house teaching, or lessons taught by a teacher employed for that purpose.
