Assessment is an integral part of learning and teaching and
represents one of the most challenging aspects of a teacher’s role.
Teachers need to make judgements on the many aspects of children’s
learning in order to help them make further progress in the
subject.
In addition, teachers also need to consider
the process of self- and peer-assessment. This includes the
children in appraisal of their own learning so that they have a
clear idea of how well they are progressing in different areas of
language and how they might improve.
