Planning for any subject requires careful thought,
collaboration and cooperation in any subject area and primary
languages is no different. However, with primary languages being a
new subject in the curriculum, planning for sustainability takes
place at both a strategic level within a local authority and school
as well as at curriculum level.
The need for thorough and informed planning is
essential if all children are to reap the benefits of learning a
new language and responsibility for this lies with a range of
people at both school and authority level. The Key Stage 2
Framework for Languages should inform planning at all stages of
development and provides extensive support, particularly in Part
3.
