Television

Discover some of the freely accessible television programmes to support teaching primary languages and your continuing professional development.

BBC Learning Zone clips

You can access free clips from BBC educational programmes, including materials for several languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Spanish) on the BBC Learning Zone website.

Videos include animated stories such as Anansi and the  Turtle, the Boy and the Drum, Frau Holle and the Sun and the Wind and programmes relating to ‘living in a diverse world’, traditional crafts, food and drink, house and home and school.

Not every language has the same selection of programmes available so it is worth looking through each language to view the full range of videos on offer. When creating your search, you can also filter the results to show primary programmes only.

Videos are not currently available to download but can be watched online in different formats at BBC Learning Zone.

Teachers TV

Teachers TV programmes are designed to provide CPD resources for teachers at all career stages and can also be used to stimulate discussions on teaching across the curriculum, behaviour management or whole school issues.

The Teachers TV website has a large selection of programmes on primary languages available to watch online and download. View current videos at the following link: Teachers TV primary modern foreign languages.
